MemorialFest in Pellston
Memorial Day Weekend 2017
Thursday will kick off the fun with a Teen Dance under the Main Tent located at the corner of Hwy US-31 and Main Street in downtown Pellston. From 7-10pm come and join in the fun with a teen dance and DJ spinning all the best music.
Friday Friday will include a Rib and Chili Cook-off held under the Main Tent along with great, live music from the Michigan-based trio Blake Elliot and the Robinson Affair from 4:30-8pm. During the day, the arts and craft show will be setting up and after the Rib and Chili Cook-off ends the Main Tent will open up to a great dance band called The Blitz from 8pm to midnight. Also, the Beer Tent will be open from 5pm-midnight.
Saturday Saturday will be a day full of great fun and entertainment. The arts and crafts show will be going on all day along with a city wide garage sale, inflatable bounce fun for kids, a softball tournament and from 10am-12pm a 5k fun run will take place throughout town. Beginning in the afternoon come and enjoy live musical entertainment from the Petoskey Steel Drum Band, Oh Brother Big Sister as well as The Pistil Whips. In between musical acts be amazed by the talent of local, professional jugglers Tommy Tropic and his Entourage as well as from Crazy Richard the Madd Juggler! Stick around for the Craft Beer Competition and Taste of the Northwest from 4-7:30pm and then the fun begins with more live music under the Main Tent from Rocket 88’s and Billy Jewell.
Sunday Sunday will showcase an award winning Car Show culminating with a Car Cruise. In the early afternoon, enjoy live musical performances from The Deepest Height and local legend Kellerville as well as live performances from world-class juggling acts by Chuck Clark (a.k.a. Rufus the Dufus) and Guinness Book of World Record holder and International Juggling Association Champion David Cain. The city-wide garage sale, softball tournament and arts and craft show will also be held on Sunday until 5pm (6pm for the softball tourney). Enjoy a wine tasting competition from 4pm to 7pm while receiving more eye-popping entertainment from Chuck Clark and David Cain.
Monday will include a memorial celebration at the new Veterans Memorial in downtown Pellston’s Memorial Park from noon to 1pm followed by a Memorial Day parade at 1pm. Afterwards, volunteers for the weekend long event will be treated to a volunteer lunch at 2pm.
All proceeds from the Pellston MemorialFest will go to non-profits benefiting veterans throughout the northern Michigan region including Operation Injured Soldier and Braveheart’s Estate located just north of Pellston on Ely Rd. The estate offers a place for veterans to get away and enjoy the peace and tranquility of northern Michigan.
