Christmas Week is a big one Up North. Winter months can often mean quiet in Northern Michigan. But not this week! This bustling week from just before Christmas to after New Year's is filled with shopping, dining, skiing, snow sports and more as visitors head North for a Currier & Ives fix.

Restaurants are hopping during Christmas week and Up North, there are restaurants and cuisines to fit any palate or wallet.

Shopping is a major pastime during Christmas week. The shopping districts of Boyne City, Charlevoix, Mackinaw City, Harbor Springs, and Petoskey are ready with sales on Christmas merchandise plus a fabulous selection of everything from books to sporting gear.

The highlight of week is, of course, snow. Yes, there is plenty of snow and that is just how Northern Michigan likes it! Snow is a major economy Up North and with good reason: our snow is spectacular. So what snow sports are on top? Try any or all of these for a great outdoor experience.

Skiing & boarding Northern Michigan has three of the country's best ski resorts right here so spend a day at each to them: Nub's Nob, Boyne Highlands, and Boyne Mountain.
